About Amy

Amy Ludwig is a writer, director, and producer who uplifts women’s stories. Her stage adaptation of Sandra Cisneros‘ novel The House on Mango Street has been produced at Steppenwolf Arts Exchange and more than 35 other theatres nationwide, and earned the 2005 LA Weekly Award for Best Adaptation. 

In Chicago, she developed new plays by Sarah Ruhl, Elizabeth Wong, Rebecca Gilman, and others with theaters including Victory Gardens, Theater Oobleck, and Chicago Dramatists Workshop, and produced and directed original site-specific works in unusual venues.

Amy has also served as Executive Director of a college access nonprofit, produced a cable TV travel series, taught television writing at Columbia College Chicago, written marketing materials for health and fitness companies, and sourced forensic and scientific details as researcher on Fox TV’s “Bones.”

Amy holds a B.A. from Yale and and M.A. in Performance Studies from Northwestern, and trained at Trinity Rep Conservatory and the Warner Brothers Comedy Writing Workshop. She is a proud alumna of Storyknife Writers Retreat.
